TruCash Group of Companies continues its partnership with Tourism Mississauga to offer the ‘It Pays to Stay’ city stimulus program with prepaid Visa® cards.
TORONTO, August 20, 2021 – Following the program’s success in 2020, Tourism Mississauga has relaunched its campaign to support local spending and drive economic recovery from the pandemic.
The program’s first installment generated a 50% increase in overall spending, and 60% of the rewards were spent at food service locations. ‘It Pays to Stay’ was also the first of its kind in Canada, catalyzing other city stimulus programs, including Vancouver, London and Fort McMurray.
Until January 2022, visitors or Mississauga residents can receive a $100 prepaid Visa® card when they book a minimum two-night stay at a participating hotel. Funded by Tourism Mississauga, the cards are provided at check-in and only accepted at shops or restaurants within the city to support the hospitality industry. TruCash designed the cards to reflect the ‘Dine,’ ‘Shop,’ and ‘Play’ program themes, in addition to providing a TruCash Balance Checker mobile app.
Tourism Mississauga has also sponsored the Silver Salmon Challenge this summer to attract fishing enthusiasts with the ‘Reel in a Deal’ campaign. Visitors who book a fishing charter with a participating company receive a $100 prepaid card, plus the chance to win over $350,000 in prizes until the end of August 2021.
Diana Fletcher, President of TruCash Group, commented: “Our tourism industry has been one of the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. As a Mississauga-based company, we’re thrilled to partner with the city and help them give back to our local community.”
City stimulus programs are part of TruCash’s payment solutions that simplify rewards and incentives with branded prepaid technology.
